The unexpected early rainfall has taken a huge toll on brick makers in Acholi sub region.
Several people, mostly youth engage in molding bricks for construction and sale during dry season.
However, those who embarked on the initiative, says the early rains that have been pounding the area for the last two weeks have destroyed most of their bricks.
Bosco Oryem, a Boda boda rider and resident of Mucwini trading center in Mucwini Sub County told Mega Fm in an interview on Thursday that half of the 2,000 pieces of bricks he had laid have been destroyed by rain.
Oryem notes that he had injected Shillings 400,000 into the venture hoping to use to the proceeds to purchase a motorcycle and livestock.
Denis Opoka, a resident of Bajere south village in Lamit parish in Labongo Akwang Sub County says he had already spent Shillings 240,000 to mold 12,000 out of the 20,000 bricks he needed for constructing a family house.
Uganda National Metrological Authority officials disclosed early this week that heavy rain is expected to cease in the next one week while other regions will still receive it for about two weeks.
They says the rains are as a result of climate variability and warn farmers against planting crops.
