At least 20 private businesses were on Monday closed by Gulu University authorities for operating illegally inside the university premises.
The affected were mostly printing and photocopying centers.
Khalid Mohamoud, the Gulu University Assistant Public Relations Officer said that the illegal businesses were closed following concerns by the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament that the private businesses were operating without any legal agreements.
Khalid said the shops will be reopened only after owners produce the needed documents.
Mega FM also spoke to some of the proprietors over the incident.
However, some business like DFCU bank, Samasource group enterprise and Centenary Bank ATM point were not closed after they requested for 30days to complete formalization of their operations.
