Nwoya district health department has announced decreased in malaria cases by almost half.
A total of 2,943 cases were registered in the past week when compared to the previous week that had 4,092 cases.
Alero sub-county is leading with 930 cases followed by Anaka Sub County with 780, Purongo had 722 and Koch Goma sub-county last with 510 cases registered.
The report further indicates that 72 per cent of the person that goes to Anaka hospital outpatients department has malaria.
Speaking today during the Malaria emergency task force meeting held at Nwoya teacher’s resource centre Okot Samuel Obonyo the Nwoya district malaria focal person attributed the decrease in malaria cases to various intervention which has been taken up.
