1000 Girls Defiled in Pader During Lockdown
Pader teenage pregnancy cases have risen to over 1000 as government plans to reopen schools in the face of the rising cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The cases were registered between March-August, 2020 after the government closed schools to control the spread of Coronavirus.
Doctor Alex Layoo, the Pader District Health Officer says that the cases went up to over 1000 from 800 reported between March-July.
Layoo adds that majority of these girls are aged between 12-18 and most of their defilers are adults.
The presidential directive to lock down the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, has impacted negatively on young girls.
A lot of them have become victims of defilement and teenage pregnancy.
According to a Police report, 4,442 cases of defilement were reported between January and April 2020.
