Muslims Struggle to Raise Funds for Inauguration of Khadi

Muslim leaders in Northern Uganda have reached out to their counterparts in other religious denominations to help raised funds for the inauguration of the regional Khadi, Sheikh Abdulaziz Hussein Abdullah.

Sheikh Aziz is among the nine regional Khadis appointed by Sheikh Ramadan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda in an attempt to decentralise power and improve service delivery to Muslims across the country.

His inauguration and swearing-in ceremony is set for 14th September 2019 at Lango Qu`ran Primary School in Lira district.

However, with just two days left to the occasion, the Organising Committee has raised over 10 million shillings out of the required 57 million shillings.

The money is expected to be used to feed guests, construction, public address system and security among others.

Sheikh Musa Khelil, the Khadi of Acholi District Muslim appealed for joint support from all stakeholders and well-wishers to make the day colourful.

Muslim community in Acholi sub region is part of the Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI), an umbrella organisation of all the major religious denominations in northern Uganda (Catholic, Pentecostal, Protestant and Islamic faith groups).
