Odama Attribute Namugongo Success To Media


His Grace Dr John Baptist Odama, the Arch Bishop of Gulu Archdiocese has attributed the success of this year’s Uganda’s Martyrs’ Day celebrations to the media.

This year’s celebrations, animated by Gulu Archdiocese, has been described as historic and an estimated over 4 million people attended the celebration.

According to Odama, media played a crucial role in the mobilization and news coverage.

He also thanked all the stakeholders that participated in the making of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee has revealed that over 30 million shillings in pledges are yet to be fulfilled.

Gulu arch diocese had budgeted for over 900 million shillings for the celebrations but only managed to collect 647 million shillings.

It is the second time Gulu Archdiocese is animating the Uganda Martyrs’ day celebration at Namugongo after 2003.
