Omoro Cultural Leader Killed


A cultural leader was this morning found killed in Omujubi village, Odek Sub County in Omoro district.

Thomas Odong Okidi aged 57, a member of the Puranga clan leadership in Odek, was killed last night while returning home.

Mathew Olobo, the former L.C3 chairperson of Odek Sub County said Okidi’s blood stained body was found at 6:00am this morning on the path leading to his home.

Peter Mugabe, the Omoro district police commander confirmed the incident saying their crime intelligence officer visited the scene and took the body to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesman says that the deceased’s nephew identified as Denis Okema has been arrested over the murder.

Okema says the 30-year old suspect whose clothes were blood stained was found with the deceased’s shoes and shirt and also had a blood stained panga and spear.
