At least eight passengers are confirmed injured after a speeding passenger service bus knocked an elephant along Karuma-Pakwach Highway last night.
The bus registration number UAL 158Z belonging to Gaagaa bus company hit the elephant in the areas of Got Apwoyo village in Got Apwoyo Sub County, Nwoya district at around 11:40pm before overturning.
The injured include the bus driver identified as Twaha Karim.
Others are Dr. Christine Mpora from Gulu, Kizito David, Rwothongeyo Derrick, Mohamed Segerinya, Aweka Sandra, Oruma Franchesca and Ramathan Ismael.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River region police spokesman confirmed the incident, adding that the accident could have been caused as a result of over speeding.
